TRAVELS
Come with me, to places around the world often unseen

These short stories travel the world — not the tourist maps, but the backstreets, the quiet moments, the raw edges of real life. Inspired by people I've met, places I've lived, and moments that stuck, each tale is a mix of memory and imagination, truth and invention.

Some come with grit. None are polished smooth.

Each story includes some images and a gallery if you would like to explore further.

If you're drawn to the honest, the messy (people aren't perfect) and the beautiful — welcome. You’re in the right place.

Lose yourself in the narrative, and enjoy.

A Pint in Detroit
Sometimes the urge to escape takes you somewhere unexpected. For a woman traveling alone, caution is wise—but some places call to you in a way you can’t ignore.

She answered that call. And in the most unlikely of places, she found something she didn’t know she was searching for: a sense of connection, and a glimpse of home.

This story was also adapted into a short film with this brief: Include 2 female actors, include a radio, a wink, and film in a park - I wrote and directed it, and you can watch it here

Remember the depths
On a holiday road trip through Wales, a couple takes an unplanned detour—drawn to a cluster of eerie buildings nestled deep in the valley. Something about the place feels… off.

Was that a curtain moving in the window? Should they have stopped at all? In this forgotten town, are they welcome?
SLEAFORD, LINCOLNSHIRE, UK
Shadows of the Past
She grew up in a quiet town where old things lingered—buildings, traditions, ways of thinking.
Her mother sent her to the all girls’ grammar school, one of the last places clinging to the 11+ exam.
But it wasn’t the school she remembered now. This is a story about something older. Vast. Crumbling. Forgotten.
It watched everything. And it never left.
